RRK Puppy Information

Please Read Thoroughly!
UPDATED October 7th, 2022

Thank you for your interest in one of my puppies. There are a lot of scammers out there, so please be careful before putting down a deposit with any breeder. You can ask to join my Red Rooster Kennels Owners Page on Facebook and see all the people talking about my puppies…it’s a good way for you to check on any breeder; to check on their Facebook history. One my Owners page you can ask questions, the experience people have had with my puppies, anything you may want to know about me or my program. Note: We recently moved to the Tulsa, OK area, but do transport puppies to a meeting spot in the Dallas and Houston areas free of charge.

You are welcome to contact me, Christa Morgan, directly at redroosterkennels@gmail.com if you have a specific question about available puppies or how long a wait list is…or other questions.

BEFORE PURCHASING ANY PUPPY, PLEASE BE PREPARED FOR A LIFELONG COMMITMENT. THE LAST THING I WANT IS FOR A FAMILY TO HAVE A CHANGE IN LIFE AND HAVE TO REHOME A DOG. I REALIZE THINGS HAPPEN BUT ASK BEFORE YOU PUT A DEPOSIT DOWN FOR ONE OF MY PUPPIES THAT YOU EVALUATE YOUR LIFE AND BE SURE THAT YOU ARE READY FOR THIS COMMITMENT. THERE CAN BE BEHAVIOR ISSUES THAT ARISE THAT YOU NEED TO WORK WITH A TRAINER OR ON YOUR OWN, PLEASE BE SURE YOU ARE READY TO MAKE IT A PRIORITY AND PUT THE TIME IN NEEDED TO MAKE YOUR NEW FAMILY MEMBER ONE THAT YOU VALUE.

General Information:

Deposit: To be put on my waitlist for either Sheepadoodle or Bernedoodles puppies, I require a deposit to be added to the list. By requiring a deposit, it allows me to know who is serious and to have the ability to better estimate for those looking for a puppy I can give a real idea on length of wait time.

Docked Tails & Dewclaws: I typically dock tails; it is the look I prefer. However, I do periodically do a complete litter that keeps their tail, so if that is your preference I will need to know.

Grooming: Both Sheepadoodles and Bernedoodles require regular brushing and grooming. The extent of such depends on how long you keep the coat and how much they are outdoors. But typically brushed at least a few times a week and groomed every 8 weeks. Grooming for an adult is anywhere from $100-150. Please understand that without good maintenance your doodle will become matted and that is painful…so be prepared to make this commitment before getting any doodle.

Puppy Enrichment: I do Early Neurological Stimulation days 3-16 which is shown to provide better immunity, cardiac, dealing with stress, etc. I also do Early Scent Introduction during the same timeframe, which is beneficial for hunting dogs and therapy as they develop their scent abilities earlier…I do it mainly as another way to interact with the puppies at an early age. I follow Puppy Culture Protocols, which give a great roadmap to helping develop wonderful, social, stable puppies by introducing them to specific things at specific development points. Google all these to learn more.

Training: I always recommend my families do obedience work in a class setting or have a trainer working with them in their home. This puppy with be with you for many years, putting work in the first 6-8 months to make him/her a wonderful family companion pays off for many years.

Health Testing: My parent dogs are DNA tested and clear for diseases known to the breed and they have their hips evaluated either by OFA (we are moving away from) or Pennhip (its less subjective).

Temperment Tested: All my litters are temperament tested by an independent trainer at 7 weeks of age (the optimum age for this testing). Temperment testing gives a good snapshot of where puppies are at that point (bold, shy, stable, confident, therapy or service dog potential, good for families with children, etc.). Please understand this is not an absolute for where they will be as an adult. The work you continue to put in the first six months continues them on their journey to being a valued family member. What you will get from me is a puppy that has been exposed to all kinds of noises, textures, lots of enrichment and love.

My puppies consistently test stable, confident, and social. Some will test a little more outgoing than others or a little shy (but not fearful), some higher energy than others…the testing is a tool towards helping you get the right puppy for your family.

How does getting my puppy work:

You decide you want to be put on my wait list and provide the $400 non-refundable (but transferable to a next available litter) deposit and are put on the wait list. If you have specific sex, weight, coloring, tail/docked, etc. requirements you let me know.

When there is a confirmed pregnancy for a litter you are eligible, I will advise you of the due date, your pick number in that litter, parents for that litter, estimated adult weight, estimated colors etc. You confirm if you want to be in that litter or you prefer to wait.

If you confirm you want to be in that litter, I will add you to it and keep you appraised of progress. IF for some reason there are not enough of a specific sex or coloring, etc., then we will discuss moving to another litter.

  • Be aware…if you are in a litter and when it’s your turn to pick and there is not a puppy you love in the puppies you have to pick from, we can move you to the next available litter. We can discuss what litters are coming and what your pick would be in those litters
    • Please be aware that DOES NOT mean top pick of the next litter as some people may already be in specific litters because they wanted in that litter specifically and put in deposits before you did for the litter you were in.

At six weeks I allow you to visit the puppies if you want to visit them or we can schedule FaceTime for you to see the different puppies. I also ask for your top three picks so I have an idea if there are any puppies people are not interested…you are NOT bound by the three you designate, it’s just a mechanism for me to see who is interested in what puppies and give families feedback on possible unavailability of any of their top picks.

At 7 weeks they are temperament tested and I will post the results (before testing you will be e-mailed information on the test and how the results will be communicated to you). Once I post the results puppy pick will begin with first pick picking, I will advise second pick who is available, and they will pick…and so on.

8 weeks puppies will go to their new homes. If you live in Texas, we are delivering to The Woodlands, TX (Houston area), and Melissa,TX (Dallas area) at a single meeting point at each location for a small fee of $100. For those further away I use a flight nanny (I will not ship cargo), which is typically around $600 additional fee you pay directly to the nanny. I have a nanny service I use and once you provide your local airport, I will contact him, and he will give a proposed itinerary for our review. The larger breed puppies are getting harder to get on flights, but I do have a ground transportation group I have started using.

Information on Sheepadoodles:

Sheepadoodles are smart (although sometimes stubborn…thanks to the sheepdog), goofy, loving, beautiful, wonderful dogs.

Sheepadoodles are typically (every dog is different) a medium to high energy dog.

Sheepadoodles are a low to no shed hybrid

  • F1 is ½ poodle and ½ sheepdog and because sheepdogs are very low shed, even the first generation sheepadoodle is very low to no shed and from my experience even those with light dog allergies are ok with an F1
  • F1b is a sheepadoodle bred back to a poodle and a good generation to get if you have medium to high dog allergies. I do not have any upcoming F1b litters at this time but will have again in early 2022.

Sheepadoodle puppies like any puppy are going to bite and jump…with the herding breed in there, maybe a little more than other puppies. It takes training, consistency to work on this behavior. For this reason, although sheepadoodles love children and are good with them, they may not be the best choice for families with young children, especially if you are a family that has not had dogs previously and may not be as good with training them. Every puppy is different, some better than others with this behavior…but please be aware of this issue before putting getting one of my puppies.

  • I generally have a good idea of what the puppies are like for each of my parents (so long as they have had their first litter) and can help direct you to the right parents for the dog you are looking for.

I have people who have done wonderful things with my sheepadoodles. One is a certified service dog and goes to school as part of a group that has a whole curriculum based on things they do with interactions with kids and their dogs. One goes to work with a forensic child psychologist and helps kids talk because they have it to pet and hold to as they tell their stories. I have several with families with children on the autism spectrum. So, these dogs are wonderful and can be trained to do such beneficial things.

I have puppies in a large variety of sizes, 50-60 lbs., 60-70 lbs, and 65-85 lbs

$2000 – standard black/white or sable/white puppy

Information on Bernedoodles:

I just started breeding Bernedoodles in the fall 2020, but the response so far has been rave reviews on this hybrid! Great with kids, calm, big and bearlike

Bernedoodles are loyal, smart, and beautiful.

Bernedoodles are typically (every dog is different) more of a medium energy dog

Bernedoodles and shedding

  • F1 – Bernese Mountain Dog x Poodle – will shed (low to medium). The Bernese Mountain Dog is a high shed, so the first generation of this hybrid will shed some

  • Are you looking for a male or female? Note: You can pick either, but when the puppies are born you will have to designate which sex the first few days.
  • What is your family lifestyle (active, hiking, etc. or more stay around the house?
  • Are you prepared for the care a puppy, training, the time it takes to make a dog you will love a part of your family?
  • If you are looking for a sheepadoodle, do you have strong preference for docked tail or full tail?
  • Do you have a size preference?

IF YOU LIVE IN THE TULSA AREA AND INTERESTED IN HEARING ABOUT OUR GUARDIAN PROGRAM, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. Essentially in the guardian program I give you a puppy (doodle or pure bred) and I get 3-4 breedings (I keep the mom and puppies during whelping until puppies go home) and then pay to spay and you keep the dog forever.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions. I can be reached at 832-386-5344.
